Get Involved..
Those two words have an astonishing impact on the future of all fundraising efforts to support people who are impacted by this onerous disease. Fundraising that supports individuals, families and those working to sure Cancer. Funds that support not only research but programs and services often out of the scope of government support. Funds that will help the 6000 plus newly diagnosed Manitobans this year. And let’s not forget the others who are already diagnosed. And, stats that tell us within the next decade that number will increase by 50%. These figures are in Manitoba alone. Not across Canada. Manitoba, where the population is minor compared to Ontario, BC and Quebec.
The Three of Us are proud to continue our fundraising efforts for the third year with “Kick Cancer Dressage”. The funds – over $6,000 – in two years. And we aim high. Hopefully $3,500 this year.
Get Involved – that’s the course of action.
A big shout out to our riders and their families who without fail continue to engage in our efforts. And to all the new riders this year who will choose to get involved. And their families who support them. Such a small thing to do. And the rewards are overwhelming.

All funds raised through the Guardian Angel Benefit stay in Manitoba to help women facing a life-changing cancer diagnosis now or in the future by supporting research, clinical trials, as well as ensure the best possible physical and emotional care. This community is strong and together you will change the course of cancer in Manitoba.
A Pumpkin Promise began years ago; not as a named event, but as a simple Halloween idea to find the biggest pumpkins I could…something to laugh at and talk about with the neighbors until the next year’s ‘big’ find! As one of my favorite holidays, my mother also shared this same passion, if not on a larger scale! She loved Halloween and was just as excited to see what size pumpkins I could find the following year.
Over time, it became something I looked forward to each Halloween and grew to become an expected sight in my neighborhood. Local farmers would baby and grow Atlantic Giant seedlings into massive pumpkins and donate them with generous hearts; flat deck trucks, tractors, bobcats and hefty friends helped to load and unload; and finally, best friends forever, who I’m sure curse under their breath the week before Halloween when I call to ask for help with standing the beasts up and showcasing them at their finest…without this dream team, none of this would have been possible each and every year.
In 2009, the passion dimmed when my mother Marietta was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We loved, cared and supported her through her treatments and subsequent aftercare, until her passing in November 2010. Naturally, Halloween just simply did not carry the same cheer as it had in the past…yet I continued to do it with thoughts of my mom and her smile as she would see the size of these pumpkins upon arrival. A couple years ago, I made the decision to carry this on in memory of my mother and chose to fundraise for cancer. Hence, a Pumpkin Promise was born.

Every year approximately 50 to 60 families in Manitoba will hear the words “your child has cancer.” With you in their corner, their chances for a positive outcome are better than ever before.
All funds raised in the Ride Inside stay in Manitoba to make a difference for kids with cancer, including those facing some of the most difficult to treat cancers. Join the Ride on November 2 or complete a virtual ride from October 26-November 2. Register Now.
$1 from every Winterize Service will be donated to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation towards breast cancer research.
