KidFish Ice Fishing Derby
EVENT CHANGE
An unseasonably warm February has forced event organizers to make alternate plans. Due to ice conditions and out of an abundance of caution, the KidFish Ice Derby is moving off the ice.
The event planned for Sunday, February 18 from 12 pm – 2 pm will be held at the Selkirk Rec Centre, 180 Easton Dr Selkirk, MB. All tickets purchased will be honoured and a range of activities and raffles will still move forward.
Everyone who has purchased tickets will be eligible for the draws of top 10 fishing prizes and top five kid prizes, including the grand prize of $5,000. There will be many extra prize draws as well. Those with kids’ tickets must attend to receive their free rods and reels, but ticket holders do not need to be in attendance to win draw prizes.
Activities will include kids’ games and pork on a bun from Danny’s Whole Hog.
Prize tickets will be available online or at the door. Tickets purchased online will be available at the door for pick up. Online sales close Saturday, February 17 at 12 pm.
All money raised will be donated to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

Mayberry Fine Art (MFA), located at 212 McDermot Ave, is hosting a special event in conjunction with their Maud Lewis Estate Exhibition, running from February 15th to March 9th. The gallery has produced four unique images in high-quality Archival Pigment Prints by the iconic artist Maud Lewis. What makes this event truly remarkable is that all the proceeds from the sale of these prints, priced at $650 each, will go directly to the Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
These Pigment Prints, presented in a small edition of 20 for each image, are fully framed and on display at the gallery. The limited nature of the edition adds an element of exclusivity to these art pieces, making them a special addition to any art collection.
But the generosity doesn’t end there. Two exceptionally generous clients and friends of Mayberry Fine Art have pledged to match every purchase, up to the entire 80 prints in the series. This means that when the entire series is sold out, a grand total of $104,000 will be raised for Cancer Care Manitoba, a vital facility in Winnipeg.
And here’s an additional incentive for art enthusiasts looking to make a difference: for every Framed Pigment Print acquired at $650, the purchaser (donor) will receive a $400 tax receipt from Cancer Care Foundation. Notably, no sales taxes are applicable, making this a financially advantageous opportunity for those looking to contribute to a worthy cause while enjoying beautiful artwork.
